"When you cease to dream, you cease to live." -Malcolm Forbes

I've been thinking about how this profound idea has played out in my life, and wondering if you can relate.

For years, I:

-Suppressed my love of horses because my parents told me they were a "king's sport" and not meant for people like us.

-Convinced myself my dream of owning my own business and having freedom wasn't realistic.

-Told myself I was wrong and felt very guilty for wanting nice things (I will INEVITABLY pick out the most expensive item in the store when I walk in!) because that meant I was greedy or selfish and I wasn't born with money, so it wasn't meant for me.

I went from being a HUGE dreamer and doer who never knew a stranger and led with enthusiasm to a super-practical, weighed-down, depressed, anxious, practical-only version of my true self.

Giving myself permission to be open to my dreams again has brought back the REAL me, the fun, quirky, passionate, ALIVE me!

How about you?

What dreams have you given up on, turned your back on, or stuffed down because they don't seem possible?

And how did--or will you--find them again?

Here's how I did it:

Spending time with women who lived as I wanted to or knew things I didn't has been the BIGGEST and fastest-acting key to my success.

I found this quote to be so true: "The fastest way to change yourself is to hang out with people who are already the way you want to be." -Reid Hoffman

Yes, it takes an investment of time (and often money) to get consistent support in this way, but I would not have chosen to spend a dollar less than the 5 figure investments I've made over the past year to learn life-changing revelations and strategies from people I admired.

Yes, it's been scary. Yes, I almost threw up when I pressed the "Pay Now" button to hire my first mentor. Yes, there were times I didn't know where the money was going to come from, but guess what? It ALWAYS DID, and not only has it more than paid for itself, but my character, businesses, days, relationships, and LIFE are all better because of it--not to mention what my clients gain from me continuing to learn and become better!

Make a choice to do whatever it takes to surround yourself with people who are already the way you want to be. Prepare to be amazed at the difference!
